POVERTY BAT V. ATJCTKLANB. ARRIVAL OF THE VISITORS. The Poverty Bay team, which is to play Auckland on Saturday for the Ran■fuxly Shield, arrived in Auckland by the Bjs. Tarawera at noon to-day. The team consists of eighteen players, under the management of Mr S. Dean, -while Mr W. Howard, the selector, and a number of enthuesiaste are also making the trip. Mr Dean, the manager, in conversation with a "Star" representative, stated that the team wae absolutely the best that had ever left the Bay. The forwaj-de were a solid lot, averaging- over 13et., while the backe were fast and clever. Notwithstanding the fact tha.t a number of the; team were suffering from the effetrte of vaccination, they put up a gTeat game against Ilawkc's Bay, and won. comfortaibly at the finish. They were confident of fully expending Auckland on Saturday, and had grea-t hopes of taking the trophy back with them. The team ie ac foil awe: —

Fril-back: Miller (12^). Three-quarters: Ryland (13.4). Ruakingi (13.0). Carruthers (10.6). Five-eighths: Tait (14.10). Kaipara (10.2). Half: Pollock (10.12). Wing-foTward: Duggan (12.6). Forwards: M.i.cquajTie (12.10), Murphy (12.10), Mona (lock) (15.5), Noble (13.11), Nicholte (12.5), Fromm (11.7), Prickatt (13.4), Sexton (11.10); one of the last-named pair .have to etand down. TSmergenciee: McGill (11.5), Stivbbs (10.8). Mona, the heavy-weight of the team, ie a ihalf-brot-her to the Auckland lock, W. Cunningham. The team were met on arrival by •Messrs M. J. Sheahan ami C. V. Langsford, on b<-balf of the Auckland Union, a.n<l taken to the Royal Hotel, where they are quartered during their etav in Auckland. This afternoon they practised at Alexandra Paj-k, and will practise again tomorrow morning , .
