Keys was first to get on the scale, and his weight was announced at 9st 1331b. Summers followed, the register showing exactly the same weight, so that on this score there will be no' advantage. The men were examined by Dr. Murphy, who, in issuing a certißcate, stated both were in perfect condition. No agreement has been arrived at concerning the referee to handle the contest, and the matteT will now be decided by the Association.

AUCKLAND TEAM'S RETURX." The Auckland team which competed at the N.Z. Amateur Championships at Timaru last week, returned home yeaterday. "Rod" Sandow, who accompanied the team as trainer and second, when seen by a "Star' representative this morning stated that the trip had been a most enjoyable one and the Aucklandera had 'been well treated. The tournament was a big success from every point of view, and in only one instance had the verdict given by the judges met with'any adverse criticism. With the exception of Davis, who was heateii in th-e first round ot the bantams, the competitors selectedfor the Australasian championships an Dunedin next month were winners .in their classes.

The lighter divisions of the gathering were exceptionally good, but the middleweights and lieavies, the latter especially so, were very disappointing. The winner or trie Withev was n. good two-handed fighter, but the others were hardJy up to form. Cadman, tie Auckland youngster, put up a real good fight under the conditions, his arm being very bad from the vaccination and he surprised his associates with his fine showing. James fought a real gritty fight against Munro, who was runner-up in the final, but Munro was too husky for him. A littlt more weight and James might have reversed the decision. ■■

Both Bennetts and Mitchell, who won the feather-weight and welterweight respectively, gave fine displays and won in good style, Bennetts kept all his ogpon«iits hard at it «nd his defeat of ICerr in the final was well received. Taken altogether the Association had every reason to be thoroughly satisfied with the performances of tbeir representatives
