MAN OVERBOARD.
RESCUED TOO- LATE. PONSONBT RESIDENTS FATTE. While the Rβ. Young Bimgaree wae towing a boat up the harbour this afternoon a deck hand named Charles Clausen fell overboard by come means. Two men named Wm. Thompson and Chris. Ohleen, who were working on one of the Union Co.s hulks, heard a cry from the Bimgaree. They saw Clausen in the water, and immediately went 'to hi 3 assistance in a launch. They diad to steam about 500 or 600 yards. When they reached him, Otaueen was going down for the Irat time. Thompson jumped in, and Clausen, was got aboard the launch and ■brought ashore at the Queen. Street wharf in a collapsed condition. Captain Sargent rendered first-aid, but it is feared that the man is drowned. Clausen was a married man, living in Ponsonby.
