BOTTLE MESSAGE A HOAX.

The mesage found in a bottle thrown up on the bench .it Narrow Neck on Sunday was evidently n hoax, for after a three-day search Constable Adam returned to Auckland last evening from the Grcnt Barrier to report that, hchad found no trace of the Maori who was supposed to have been in need of help. Several of these bogus messages have been found recently, and although the police have been suspicious that they were not genuine, it has been thought advisable to conduct some sort of a search. Needless to say, the hire of a launch for such trips involves very considerable expenditure for the. Department. The police are very anxious to catch the writer of any of the messages.
