FREEMAN'S BAY RECLAMATION

SECTIONS AUCTIONED. A POOR DEMAND. About thirty e«tions on the Freeman's Bay reclamation were offered for lease by auction this morning by Mr ST. Newcombe on behufcf of the Auckland Harbour Board. The work of reclamation is not yet completed. The roade are still unformed, but the auctioneer said the work, was to be begun at once. There was a fair attendance. Bidding wae slow, and only one section wae dieposed of.

The first lot offered wae No. 33, on the extreme north-west corner, facing the north wall, containing almoet three acres. Bidding started at £500 per war for .the lot and rose to £650, at which it was passed In, tho auctioneer announcing fch-at it had. not reached the upset price.

Next to So. 33 is Block 1, in which lot No. 25, with about. 00ft. frontage, was put up next. Bidding went from 35/ per foot up t-o 60/, at which it was passed in. There was no bidding for any of the oth<-r five lots in the Block.

For section 1 (nearly three-quartcre of an acre) in Block 2, which facee the north wall, next io No. 33. there was a bid of £50 a year, which wae raised to £60, and the section wae then pa.=eed in.

In Block 4. which fe two proposed roads seaward from Victoria Park northern 'boundary, lot 14, a corneT section started at £10, and rose to £30, at which it Time aleo passed in. Lot 15 was psw,c<l in at £20.

Lot 1 in Block 0, which ie one proposed road nearer the Park, w«nt from £20 to £fio. but the auctioneer announced tfrat the Board wanted £80. at which there was no demand for it, and the lot \va« paseed in.

In Block I), which is at the Customs Street end ■of the 'Park, lot I, for which £2 a foot ■was asked, had to be passed as there was no offer at that figure. I/ot No. 4, with 50ft. frontage, -wae cold at 25/ per foot. Uot S attracted a bid of 22/6. but was paeeed in. lot 6 meeting with a similar fale. A roa-d reserve. fi?ft. by nearly 400 ft.. next the proposed Harbour Board slipway on the west eide, was offered for twenty-one yeare, but no one bid for it. The leases of the nthnr sections have a term of 50 veare.
