LAND AGENT'S BANKRUPTCY.

HAMILTON, this day.
A meeting of creditors of Gilbert McCandlish, land agent, was held this afternoon. Bankrupt's i-tateroent showed: Secured creditors £340, assets £39, leaving a deficiency of £301. Bankrupt said he could make no offer. He admitted that he went bankrupt once before in 1895, but got bis discharge. A resolution was passed asking the Assignee to investigate matters further, and the meeting was adjourned sine die.
Arrangements hare been made to inaugurate a motor-has service in Hamilton almost immediately to run between Hamilton East No. 1 and Frankton. It is expected the service will be fully equipped and in thorough working order three months hence-.
