SUFFRAGETTE LITANY.
SCENE IN ST. PAUL'S. "SAVE EMMELINE FANHHURST" A CHANT DURING SERVICE. (By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyrlgat.l LONDON, August 4. While the Litany was being recited at St- Paul's on Sunday morning, a band of forty Suffragettes broke in and chanted together:— '"Save Emmeline Pankhurst; spare her, spare her; i Give her light and set her free; Save her, save her; hear us while trc pray to Thee." The priest had finished the recitation of the prayer for captives and prisoners when the Suffragettes grouped together recited their special invocation, harmonising with the chanting- of the choir. The incident had evidently been carefully rehearsed. The verse was sung three or four times, each time in a louder key. The vergers led the women out, only a few chairs being upset. Otherwise the whole affair passed off in orderly fashion. The outburst caused a sensation among tbe worshippers. The verse has been printed and circulated widely. It is intended to use it in other churches. MR. ASQTJTTH HECKLED. INTEERUPTORS EJECTED. (Received 8.15 a.m.) LOXDON, August 4.
