CAMBRIDGE IMPROVEMENTS.
WATER, GAS AND ROADS.

CAMBRIDGE, this day.
A special meeting of the Borough Council was held last'evening to consider matters in connection with water andgas supplies, and metalling of streets. « was decided to recommend the ratepayers to sanction a loan for s wat Er extension scheme, including the erection of a ferro-eoncre-te tank -vitii a capacity of 100.000 gallons, at an approximate cost of £6,000. The question of laying down permanent roadways with metal and tarred macadam .v.<us discussed at length. The borough engineer and Councillor CaTe were appointed to draw up a detailed report and submit It to a future meeting. It was decided to recommend .ratepayers to sanction a loan of £1500 for gas work improvements and extension and £1000 extra for v.-E-ter reticulation. The Mayor said Dr. Valintme had congratulated the Council on the .irrangements made in connection witn F"**™" ing the spread of the epidemic. He had stated that Cambridge was the only local body in the province that t°° k **'£? before requested to do so by the Hew™ Department.
