ATHLETICS.

THE AMERICAN VISIT. MAY FALL THROUGH. (By Telegraph.-—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. At a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to-night a cablegram was received from the New South Wales Association agreeing to Wellington centre's terms (contributing £150 towards the expenses of the American team's tour). Victoria was also asked to agree to the same terms, but, as no reply was received, it was resolved that a committee be appointed to await a cablegram on the question of conditions, in order that the American team's visit might be reconsidered. That is to say, should Victoria not agree to the conditions, the American team's visit would fall through.
