At the annual meeting of" tie M.astertoa Racing dab to-day it was decided to Increase the srakes for the ensuing season to 2500SOVS, an Increase of TOOsovs on last year. Mr. J. H. Forest Prince was favourite Wimmera dashed Into the lead directly the barrier flew np, his immediate attendants being Wtngarara. Forest Prince, Light Ballast, Ballista, and Julian, with Clontaft last. Passing the stand the second time Wimmera w«a Btill setting the pace three lengths In advance of Wlngarara and Light Ballast, with Clontaft, Forest Prince, Julian, and Oxbridge nearest of the others. A mile from home Wimmera was bowling along with a six lengths lead, and he showed the way np to the last hurdle, where Clontaft challenged with Ballista handy. Clontaft had Wimmera beaten a hundred yards from the post, bnt Ballista, battling it out like a real game *nn, cangtat Clontaft, end won by a length and a-quarter, three lengths separating the second and third horaeaL Uxbridge was fourth, followed by toßan. Time, Ballista Is a stable mate to Whnmera. though in a different Interest. The victory was received with a hostile demonstrattoOL followed by connter-cheere.
