The Magistrate's Court was occupied rrith tho hearing of a number of charges of driving stock through Riecarton to the -metropolitan saleyards contrary to the by-laws of the newly-formed borough. The cases, are icing contested on the grounds that the by-laws arp reasonable. A considerable quantity of evidence \ras heard week, and the cases are likely to last all day. The charges are trivial in ikrmsflves, but important in view of the objection raised to the by-laws, which were framed for the purpo.-c; o£ compelling removal of the Addington Stock Market from the Borough of Puecartou.
