SLY-GROG SELLING.

WAIHI RESIDENT FINED. (By Telegraph.-Own Correspondent.) WAIHI. this day. In the Police Court this morning" H E. -Meyer was charged (on three informations) with sly grog-selling and with keeping liquor for sale. Mr. Moresby appeared for accused and Sergeant Wonlman represented the police. Two of the charges of sly grog-sellino- wc-e withdrawn. Counsel spoke at length in extenuation of the offence. The magistrate said he could not extend leniency. It was his intention to stop illicit trading in the district. Accused was fined £30 for sly grog-selling and £20 for keeping liquor for sale ( £50 in all).
