HUNTLY NEWS.

The Huntly School of Mines has accepted j the offer of Mr. .T. Fletcher (manager of the Taupiri Coal Mines! to take classes in minning and land surveying, and also of the Key. Evans, to teach practical chemistry. The secretary was instructed to find teachers for mechanical drawing and shorthand,' and Mr. J. Carmody was appointed to give Instruction in mathematics and applied mechanics. At the last meeting of tbe Huntly Town Board, Mr. Chenery Suggate addressed the members upon the suggested electric lighting scheme. A letter was read from the directors of the Taupiri coal mines, stating that when they visited the town shortly the sites available for a power station would [be Inspected, and their decision communiI cated in duo course.

Tbe sum of £-00 was raised at a bazaar held last week in the hall of tbe Miners' Union at Huntly. In aid of the funds of St. Paul's Anglican Church. The function was a marked success, and the stallholders were attired in fancy dresses and the interior of the building was most effectively decorated. Mr. It. !•". Bollard.
