THE WAIKATO HOUNDS

. The, Walkflto hounds- had a-, 'bye-day at Rruntivoou on Wednesday, but owing .to 'the polo tournament being held at To Awamutu, only about a 'dozen members turned out. The master had seventeen couple out, the biggest pack that has ever hunted in the Waikato, and the way they disposed of a couple of hares is pjroof that their condition is right: With a good scent on May 3 (the opening day), hares will have to be well to ljve with them. I understand the tuastcr hits twenty-flve couple to draft from this season, the puppies are entering well and are shaping flrst-claes, and with a good pack in good form there Is every promise of a good season's sport. After a couple of hours' enjoyable hunting the field adjourned to Brnntwood, where thej were most hospitably entertained to lunch. In proposing the health of Mr and Mrs Boss, the master said he was sorry to say that would be the last time they would be the guests of the host and hostess at Bruntwpod. He knew he voiced the feelings of every member of the hunt when he said they all regretted the departure of Mr and Mrs Sobs from the district.
