ACCIDENT AT HUNTLY.
VALUABLE HORSE KILLED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) ; HUNTI/Y.' Thursday. An accident, which might have ended with the loss of human life, :but, fortunately, only accounted for the. loss -i>f a valuable horse, happened here last. night. Mr. David Suttie, a contractor, living at the northern end of the township, was driving several of His norsee across the railway crossing to the pad- 1 dock in which they are ueuallv kept. It was just dusk. All the horses were across the line, excepting one (a heavy draught horse, valued at £50). when Suttie happened to look along the "jins and found that the light engine which is used for shunting purposes in the station yard here, anil which' was returning from a short trip, was almost upon him. At this time he had his hand on the horse, and felt the engine crash into it. Mr. Suttie just escaped by a matter of inches. The horee wae killed outright, and the front of the engine was considerably damaged, both the engine-driver and fireman having a 'very narrow escape.
