The Probation Officer's report stated that the prisoner showed no sign ,of peni.ten.ee. The prisoner sentenced to six monthft , hard labour, aad to reformative treatment for. a. term n"t exceeding three; yeaTS. . , . • A RAD RECORD. ■Frank Etiwards, alias Hickai .who had a bad record, admitted' S. charge of horse-stealing at Opotiki on March 28th,. and was sentenced to a year's imprison- j meitt; and declared 'to be an habitual criminal. .. _ . ' " STILL ANOTHER OHAiNCE. Thoniae Hall, a young man who was placed on probation on May 18th, 1012, for two years, in connection with the theft of jewellery, failed to report himself regularly to the police, amd was. found on licensed premises while » hibition order was out against him. .
•His "Honor gave the prisoner another chance, and released him on probation for a further term of 18 months, -ordering him to renew his prohibition order for two years when the present one expired on May 20th.
