TRAIN IRREGULARITY.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—There is certainly cause - for eertous complaint regarding the irregularity of • the early workers' train! This is timed~to meet the -requirements of pas-; sengers who, with few exceptions, are under obligation to "start work at eight o'clock, and- many of whom may be seriously affected' should tliey fail to do so. Tim train is supposed to reach Auckland at 7.45 a.m., but frequently it is delayed, at Newmarket owing to the late departure of the 7.20 Waikato train from Auckland. On Monday last t'iie latter did not arrive at Newmarket until 8!5 o'clock, and consequently the former was twenty-seven' minutes behind- time in reaching Auckland. Surely the necessities of the case should suggest to the official mind that the more urgent need of several hundred' workers JsKould. receive first consideration rather than; the doubtful convenience of the few passen "ers. by the early Waikato train.' When through any CauseJ it" is late in; starting it should await the arrival of the other train, as such loss of tune caa eksilv be made up without any undue excess of speed in the five-hour trigthrough to Frankton.—l am, etc., ; - PUNCTUALITY .
