FIRE-PROTECTION ON DOMINION ROAD.
' (To the Editor.) Sir, —I was very pleased to-.see a letter in Friday's 'Star" in reference to the above. I quite agree -with • Ratepayer that it is a scandal that so large a number of houses at the end of Dominion Road should be practically without any protection by brigade from fire. We have only to go to the end of Queen Street to see what fire means even with an efficient brigade. To property owners at the end of Dominion Road, fire at present would entail total loss of the building in which the fire started, and a big danger of it spreading. I would suggest that a branch fire station should be built near to St. Alban's Church. If the Mayor of Mt. Eden would call a meeting, he would, I think, get plenty of men to join a brigade and assist in forming a branch of the Mt. Eden Fire Brigade. —I am, etc., PROPERTY OWNER.
