THE ST. HELENS INQUIRY.

Sir, —As you most generously allowed mc to appeal for a—sistance in connection with my expenses re the St. Helens inquiry, will you also allow nre to thank those who kindly -responded to that appeal? The Bootmakers' Union, Waterside Workers' Union, United Furnituremakers' Union, Butchers' Union, £1 1/ each; Mr Homing, 10/; collected at workers' meeting in Opera House on appeal by Mr Canhanl, £4 14/; also, 5/ , individually from waterside workers; 10/ from David WishaTt (Dunedin); collected 'by relatives and friends of the late Mrs Marsh (per Mrs Williams), £3; 01, Airs Emily Gibson; making a total of £13 0/, for which I am sincerely grateful, and which has been a great factor in my continuing the inquiry to a finality. The inquiry now being ended, 6o are my expenses.—l am, etc., EMILY NICOL.
