Committee ! are taking a very .keen interest in the work that has been allotted to them, 5 ! and at a meeting held yesterday in the " Town Hall, at which the Mayoress pref sided, a decoration scheme was planned _ by the ladies which should complete y , transform the Town Hall's .tatetior. It ' was decided that the main hall shall bo £ used for dancing, and that part of the, d ,»niG flat be utilised for the supper room, - buffet, and sitting-out room. It was pros posed that the concert hall upstairs be r used as a supper room. I The whole matter of decorations was c -rone info at a joint meeting of the c Ladies' Committee and the Decoration :l Committee, at which the Mayor presided. i It was decided to appoint Mr B. C. Ghil- : - weU as honorary architect, to give definite form to the suggestions made by c the two committees. o At a meeting of the Invitation and c Dance Committee in the evening, a re- - commendation that £1 1/ should be the 5 price of gentlemen's tickets, and that 3 ladies' tickets should be 15/, was adopted. It was decided, that applications for •- tickets should be made to the secretary r (Mr. Graham Reid) at the .lmpe-:a! c Buildings, Queen Street, and that u_jon .. payment of fees a formal invitation will be sent to applicants. The appointment of a band, preparation of the floors,, and te other matters of detail were left in the 6 hands of sub-committees. c . At the meetings of the Remuera Road Board and Mt Albert Borough Council, d held last night, it was decided to accede n to the request made by the Mayor of the i- city that they should contribute towards i- the entertainment fund in ' connection n with the battleship's visit, c This mornmg the Hon. H. D. Bell, ° Minister of Internal Affairs, met the II Mayor (Mr C. J. Parr) and the chairman of the Harbour Board (Mr J. H. Gunson), and discussed the arrangements made locally for the reception of the d battleship New Zealand. The Minister sr expressed his approval of the programme to arranged, and asked that the Mayor •■* should suggest dates to fit in with the ;0 local' programme^on which the Governdjment might convey as many of the men as possible to Rotorua.
