ARCH _____ AND PARNET-T-The Greater Auckland movement pro*eeede apace. A Proclamationt has been. issued in this week's "Gazette" relating to the union of Arch Hill with the city. At the expiry of one month a further proclamation will be issued uniting Arch Hill with the City, so that by the. beginning of March that district will in all probability become a part of Auckland. The Mayor (Mr C. J. Parr) has received a letter from the Under-Secre-tary of Internal Affairs stating that his Department •will use every means to expedite the amalgamation. Regard—g ParneU, the Borough Council has already given notice to the Governor. To enable his _xcellency to -issue a proclamation it is now necessary thai the City Council should forward its petition. The Council has executed a petition, and it will go forward next week, so soon as the deed of agreement containing the terms of union is signed by the respective bodies. The deed was sent to the ParneU Borough Council about a wee_ ago, and comes before that Cannon for si_—iture at its meeting on Mondaynight. Immediately this deed is ..returned to the City Cor„ict! the union will take place. The probability is that the "Gazette" notice will be issued this month, after which the Paniell Borough Council will sit with the City Council | until the end of April as the United (Sty Council of Auckland and Parnell.
