SYDNEY, this day.
The Grand Lodge of Orangemen in New South Wales intends to send direct to Lord Chelmsford the resolution concerning their protest against the appointment of Sir Gerald Strickland as Governor of the State. The Orangemen objected to the appointment on the ground that Sir Gerald was a Roman Catholic, and the State was overwhelmingly Protestant. The resolution was sent on to the State Premier, Mr McGowen, who. however, refused to forward it, as he did not consider it a fit and proper resolution to send to the King"s representative.
