HOT FIGHT IN TRIPOLI.
ITALIANS GAIN GROUND. A STUBBORN RESISTANCE. THREE THOUSAND TURKISH LOSSES. (By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.) (Received 11.50 a.m.) TRIPOLI. November 27. Fight was in progress all day Sunday in the oasis. Both the Turks and Arabs were strongly entrenched, but the Italians gained ground, garden by garden, and house by house, until they occupied Fort Mesrit. the village of Henni, and the country to the eastward of Fort Hamidieh. The Turkish killed, wounded, and prisoners are estimated at 3000. POWERS AND THE BLOCKADE. TURKEY WILL TRUST EUROPE. TO KEEP ITALY TO HER PROMISE. (Received 11.20 a.m.) CONSTANTINOPLE, November 27. Though Turkey is improving the defences of the Dardanelles, she relies upon the Powers objecting to the blockade, as the operation contradicts Italy's public declaration that hostilities would be restricted to Tripoli and Cyrenaica. COST OF THE WAR. 21 MILLIONS A MONTH. (Received 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, November 27. The "Times" states that the war is costing 2j millions sterling a month.
