BOWLING.

A match of more than ordinary interest was played on Saturday on the Mount Kden Green, the members of the two teams being , n:asters at the game. 11. Rankin ' > had associated with him \V. N. V.v:..-o-h as third, W. Bradley as second, stnd the veteran R. Young as lead, while K. B. Wright, one of Onehunga's finest players, was assisted by li. X. Gill, 8. (i. Burns and H. T. .Sunnnn, all of whom have won laurels. Wright drew tirst blood with a three, Rankin following with a single; two singles to Wright followed: and then one to Rankin, the board reading: Wright 5, Rankin 2. Rankin's team then retaliated with a four, but for the next five heads were unable to score, Wright adding four singles and a two with the score 11 to 0. Rankin's men now assorted themselves, scoring successively 3, J, 2, and another 4, making the card on the 15th head 10 to 11 in Rankin's favour. At the 19th head the score was still with Rankin (19 to 13). With only two heads to go things were looking very serious for Wright, who resorted to forceful tactics, making no fewer than three dead heads before the 20th was played. With no bowl nearer than a foot from the jaA, Wright then notched a five. On the 21st head Surman put one on the jack, but was displaced by Bradley, who was similarly treated by Gill with a perfect drive, Wright's team lying one when the skip went down. Rankin failing to alter, and the game being thus drawn, another head was played to decide. When the skips went to play, Wright was lying two, but Rankin rested the shot bowl behind the jack amidst applause; but Wright had still a bowl left, and with a perfectlyjudged shot displaced Rankin, whose last bowl just failed to carry the jack. So i ended a memorable game: Wright 21, Rankin 19. ]
