A CHARGE BY GENDARMES. (Received 8.5 a.m.) PARIS. September 5. 'Wearers on strike in Hallium attacked nj'U employing strike-breakers, several of whom were severely injured. The gendarmes charged the rioters, injuring a score of them. AW ACTIVE VOLCANO. (Received 10.50 a.m.) VANCOUVER. September 5. Mount PavlofT, in the Aleutian Islands, Is active. Smoko has been observed aris*Ug from the crater, and fine dust fell on passing ships.
