FREIGHT TRAINS COLLIDE.

nvi LIVES LOST. (Received 11.15 a.m.) NEW YORK, September 5. A collision occurred between two freight trains at Docks’ Junction, Erie. Two passengers, a tramp and an engineer, were killed. Several employees were seriously injured, and a number of passengers hurt. THE LEWISHAM SMASH. (Received 12.20 p.m.) LONDON, September 5. Evidence at the Lewisham inquest showed that the line was choked with sand for two yards. A verdict of accidental death was returned, the jury’s rider adding that greater attention should be paid to clearing rails at junctions and curves.
