WELLINGTON TRAMWAYS.
DEMAND FOR NEW AWARD. IMMEDIATE REPLY INSISTED UPON. (By Telegraph.—Ptea* AJBOOStfon.) WELLINC-TON, this day. Representatives of the local tramwaymen waited on the Tramways Committee yesterday, and expressed resentment on account of the delay in consideration of the men's demands for a new award. The chairman of the committee said the matter had been held up by the illness of the Mayor, but the representatives did not think this was sufficient reason to account for a delay of eleven months. It was stated by the acting-MayoT that the Mayor would return to Wellington next Sunday, and they would hear from him on the following Tuesday. One of the tramway representatives said the union's patience had been taxed more than was reasonable, and that he was instructed to say if they could not get a definite-answer a ballot would be taken nest day (to-day). After further desultory talk the deputation withdrew.
