Fowlds (Minister for Educa,ion), who is visiting Taranaki on Detrimental business, delivered a political iddress in the Town Hall to-night, at the invitation of the local Liberal League. The Minister received a good hearing. Mr. Fowlds dealt with the general policy of the Government, and defended the legislation of the present Administra tion He decried what he described as "a campaign of wholesale calumny anc" villification" on the part- of Oppositioi leaders. Touching on education matters the Minister paid a high compliment t( the Stratford High School, which he heY up as a pattern to the district schools o the Dominion.
