FOUR AND A-HALF MILLIONS. (Received 10.35 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. The preliminary count in the census shows that the complete population of the Commonwealth is 4,449,493, compared 'with 3,773,801. ten years ago. The biggest proportional increase was in Westralia 52 per cent, New South Wales 22, Queensland 21, South Australia 13, Tasmania 101; and Victoria 9i.
