A YOUNG WOMAN'S DEATH.

UNDER STRANGE CIRCUMSTANCES. INQUEST AT KINGSLAND. -- At an inquest held this morning, before Mr. Thos. Gresham (Coroner), evidence was given by a young woman named Clara Gertrude Holland identifying the body of the woman who was found dead on Tuesday evening at the bouse of a Kingsland resident. The witness stated that the deceased was her sister, Elsie Alexandra Holland. She was single, was just on 24 years of age, and had been lady's help to a family at Epsom. Witness last saw beT sister alive and well on Sunday .evening at half-past nine o'clock. At the request of Chief-Detec-tive Marsack, tbe inquest was-adjourned till Thursday week. Mr. Singer, who watched proceedings .on behalf of the' owners of the house, Mr. . and Mrs. O'Shaughnessey, asked permission to put ! -more questions to the witness, reraarkj ing that the matter was one of some I importance to his clients. The Coroner, however, stated that the inquest was mentioned merely for identification purposes, and lie refused the request. The police, it is understood, have full ! information as to the movements of Elsie Holland between Sunday and the date of her decease, but they state that it is not expedient to yet disclose them. There is a similar reticence on the part of Mr. O'Shaughnessey. He stated to a reporter that the young woman was an absolute stranger to him. The circumstances were substantially as-stated in the "Star' of yesterday. The young woman called on Tuesday evening, and induced him and his wife to take her in, and a few hours later her death resulted. All the surroundings of the case mdiv catc that somewhat unusual developments may be expected.
