"FIXED" HER SISTER.
MURDER AND SUICIDE. A MELBOURNE TRAGEDY. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, June 13. A terrible double tragedy has occurred at Fitzroy. A single woman named Ford died at the hospital last night. Her death wan supposed to have been due to natural causes. This morning Miss Ford's sister, Mrs. Russell, was found dead on a piece of vacant ground. The inquiries of the police have disclosed the fact that both women died from poisoning. Both were addicted to drink. It appears that Mrs. Russell tried hard to keep the drink from her sister, who was delicate. She threatened several times to "fix" her unless she abandoned the habit. Last night they were drinking with some companions and Miss Ford obtained some liquor, in spite of Mrs. Russell's efforts. The latter said she would "fix"' her sister, and gave her something to drink. The woman Ford became ill and was removed to the hospital. Mrs. Russell told a companion she had poisoned her sister, and she then disappeared. It is supposed that she swallowed some of the same poison she gave her sister.
