THE SHEFFIELD CHOIR.
SYDNEY, June 13. The Sheffield Choir's opening concert was a splendid success. The Town Hall was densely packed, and although all the seats had been booked several days ago, hundreds fruitlessly sought admission. The choir's rendering of HancrePs "Messiah" by over 200 picked voices, accompanied by the grand organ, was a revelation. The vast audience was thrilled and enthusiastic. (Received 9.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. The newspapers contain enthusiastic notices of the Sheffield Choir's performs ance. The "Herald" states that the choir triumphed all along the line by their fine expression and characteristic vocal quality. The takings were over f 900.
