CAMBRIDGE.
A meeting of the Works Committee of the Cambridge Borough Council was held yeßterday morning, when the matter of how to celebrate Coronation Day came up. No communication had been received from the Government as to what should be done and as the time Is getting short In which to make arrangements for such celebrations it was resolved to give the school children of Cambridge and the surrounding districts a free picture enow on the evening of that day, in the Town Hall, at 7 p.m. A special service will be held in St. Andrew's Ciiurcli at 11 a.m. So far these are all the arrangements that liuve been made for that auspicious occasion. The Baptists of Cambridge have purchased a section iv Queen-street, on which they intend to erect a church. The services ine being held in the Y.iI.C.A. building; but the congregation has increased so rapidly that the adherents feel Justified iv erecting a church. In days of yore the 1 Baptist denomination had a large tnbernacle near the .Domain on the Thoiuton-road, but It was sold, aud is nuw the Victoria Hal!, In Victoria-street. That laud is booming iv the neighbourhood of Cambridge Is demonstrated by the number of land agents that have gone into the business in that town. They now amount to one per cent of Us inhabitants. On Saturday last a number of sections in Victoria-street wore offered by lease by auction, but only oue was disposed of, viz., to Mr J. McCann, at £ll> per annum. They belong to the Roman Catholic Church.
