FIRE AT MARTON.
! BOARDING HOUSE AND STABLES j BURNED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) MARTON, this day. ! A fire at Marton this morning deI stroyed Mrs D. C. Betts' San Fort board--1 ing-house (a two-storeyed building containing 23 rooms), and Mr. Sid Amer's ' stables. Practically nothing was saved !in the boarding-house. Eleven boarders ! escaped with a few of their belongings. : The "plant" at the stables was rescued. Lloyd and Company's buildings, on the i opposite side of the street, were badly ' burnt, and the stock damaged to the ex- : tent of £400. There was no water in ! the reservoir, and the firemen worked under great difficulties. Chemical en- ; gines saved Lloyd's premises. The insurances are: Boarding-house £SOO. on . contents £300, both in the Atlas office: Amer's stables £100 in the Commercial L'nion. On Lloyd's stock the estimated damage ( £3001 is covered in several offices.
