AN "INFANT" PARTNER.
ALLEGED BREACH OF AWARD.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
DUNEDIN, Thursday.
At the Magistrate's Court to-day, 'before Mr. Henry Widdowson, S.M., a _r_a_'h of awa.d case which presented -rather peculiar features came up for hearing. It appeared that a firm of i painters had endeavoured to secure permission -bo employ a painter as an prentice, but this was not agreed to. The defendants then sought permission to secure an underrate permit for the employee. This also was not acceded to. Ultimately the employee, a youth who will he 16. in December, was taken into partnership with the firm, being granted one-eighth share. It was stated in evidence that the employee had requested to be taken into partnership, but had paid nothing to secure an interest in the firm. The defendants both stated emphatically that they had__"._n-ention- toj dii-umv-u-t the award. I
His. Worship said the question arose : whether the partnership agreed to was' a sham or not, and he would like to further consider the question of how far an "infant" could enter into a partnership. He reserved his decision, till lues* day.
