The latest report with reference to the new lode intersected on the south crosscut from the Royal lode in No. 9 level of the Waihi Company's mine shows that the next 3ft (pamely, from 4ft to 7ft) assays £3 19/ per ton. I understand that the reef is now over 12ft in width, with no sign of the other wall. HAURAKI REEFS. The manager telegraphed this afternoon: "lSlbs of good picked stone from No. 1 level." MINE MANAGERS , REPORTS. Mount Welcome. —The low level Is in 440 feet. Fine mineral heads are being met ■with. Golden Pah.—The main drive at the 80ft level is in 191 ft. A small leader was cut about lin wide, well mineralised, and underlying the same as the Pacific leader. The country is improving. In the intermediate drive the leader is making back again, and the country is improving. aioanatalari.—At Cambria No. 4 level ■the \yinze is down 25ft, and lias passed through the old 'workings into solid ground. A strong body of stone is showing -which the'manager thinks is the hangingwall of the big Cambria reef, tout so far very little quartz has been broken. KuTanui.—The Shotover leader in the intermediate drive is 2iin wide. Sinking has started at the intermediate No. 2 crosscut on the leader. Heavily mineralised ore is coming to hand, but no gold. In stopes 1 and 2, the leader is 3in wide. A start will be made this week to open up a cross drive from Shotover creek towards the Caledo-nlan-Kuranui boundary. This should cross all existing leaders from the creek to the boundary line east. Old Hauraki.—The new reef at the 400 ft level is etill dn ftwo portions, each showing colours of gold. On the left side of the drive a strong wall has been met with, carrying quartz, and there is a iarge flow of water. This, the manager thinks, is the •true hangingwali of the reef. Stoping No. 1 'block, No. 3 stope, is completed to the end of the block, 100 ft seaward of the rise, well denned, reef <well defined, and looks promising. No. 4 stope is 7Sft, colours of gold seen; No. 5 stope, 50ft, about lib of picked stone; No. 6 stope, in 26ft, reef strong, body of ore heavily mineralised and showing colours of gold. No. 3 stope in 7ft, 81bs of picked stone, gold left showing in the back of ithe stope. This is the furthest point seaward that gold has been obtained in the Stopes at this level, and is directly under the point where rich stone <was got in the 300 ft level. The new reef at the 300 ft level has been driven upon 197 ft. Quartz continues to make in the floor of the level. Golden Belt.—The reef at the low leve is -wider than the drive, and the quartz, being payable, is caved for treatment. Thames.—The drive on the Cambria reef Is in good country. TJie r-reef carries nice minerals. Kirl KM Consolidated.—The main drive is in 842 ft. The reef in the face is still split into'two parts, but there is only a few inches between the two branches now.
