LABOUR DISPUTES.
MELBOURNE, November 13. The plasterers who are on strike refused the employers' offer of an increase of 6d per day in place of their demand for 1/4 increase. ■ A conference has been arranged to take place at the end of the month between the wharf labourers ;and the federated ship-owners to discuss the former's demand for increased.wages. In the meantime the wharf labourers continue work at 1/2 per hour, with 1/9 as .the overtime rate. (Received 9.35 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. ; The wharf-labourers demand was for an increase of sd' per hour and"' 1/101 overtime, starting from to-day. The negotiation resulted in a compromise of the Steamshipowners' Federation conceding the rates • cabled yesterday, pending a conference, whereat the claims for increased wages of men working in all ports in Australia will be submitted.
