PIONEERS OF EMPIRE.

CONNATJGHTS IN RHODESIA. CAPETCrtYN, November 13. The Duke and Duchess of Connaught arrived at the Victoria Falls to-day and proceeded thence to Livingstone, in Rhodesia, where the party was received by a guard of honour drawn from the Barotse police. Replying to an address of welcome the Duke paid a tribute to the pioneers of the Empire, who were engaged in reclaiming from the heart of Africa countries which had been closed to Europeans for hundreds of years. Posterity would be grateful to the greatest of the pioneers from whom the country took its name.
