HUNTLY.

The annual general meeting of the HuntijRecreation Club took place in the Volunteer Hall on Friday night, the Atev. A. J. Beck presiding over a good attendance. The committee's annual report showed the membership at date to be 41. Daring the past season a third tennis court had been laid down, but it was not in a good state, though the other two had played, and were still playing well. Altogether four Inter-clu-b matches hud been played, the club suffering defeat ou each occasion, a result due to several of the best players huvlug left the district, and, of necessity, the club. The tiuuuces were in a satisfactory condition. The election of office-bearers resulted as follows:—Patron, Miss Balph ; hou. presidents, Messrs. J. P. Bailey, J.P., P. R. Colebrook, 11. J. Greenslade, M.P., L. B. Harris, sou., L. B. Harris, jun., E. V. Ralph and W. J. Ralph, sen. (all le-elected); presidnt, Rev. A. .1. Beck (re-elected); vicepresident, Mr. Chris. BaiJey; secretary, Mr. E. Clinch: treasurer, Mr. W. E. Swaiu I re-elected); managing committee, Messrs. F. VV. Garlaud. A. Green, N. Grecuwell. F. bittleproud, Wm. Poole. A. Ruston and C. Watson: ladies' committee, Mesdames Beck and-Elliot, Misses Early, Herd, Millingtou, Huston and Skellcru. It was decided to ask Miss Ralph to declare the courts open for play ou Wednesday, 12th inst. The cricket season commences on Saturday nexr. when the bluntly -Cricket Club ; have their opening match with teams picked I from Ralph's and Extended Mines. I Labour Day was observed as a close noliI day iv Huntly. The Taupiri coal mines I closed down for the day.
