Mountain Queen.—Driving north, on the 31aonl Dream reef, the-couutry Is improving, and the quartz- leaders crossing- the face have given out, whilst numerous bright mineral Beams have taken their pla«e- The country is similar to that at Ho. 4 level, where the best values were obtained. The footwall portion of tihe reef which has been carried along in. the drive Is composed of solid quartz, and of a kindly nature, carrying- excellent minerals, but no gold has been seen. Handsworth United.—The third and fourth stcpes going north, are producing ore with a little picked stone. In the Otama low level good blocky country lias come in without any change in the character of the lead, which still shows visiole gold. The contractors -have driven 16ft. since starting , on the main reef (Irene level), which is 3 to 4 feet wide. The stone appears to be improving in vaiue, as it gives a small mortar prospect right across, whereas formerly only the footwall portion gave any gold. New Waitaia.—ln the stopes above the intermediate level, the reef is 6 to 8 inches wide, and producing fair grade ore. North, of the slide at the intermediate level, the reef is over 1 foot wide. So far only occasional prospects have been obtained Crushing is now proceeding at the battery, and tne ore shaping for a decent return. Tlie low level is in 595 feet. Good country has been penetrated during the week. Sylvia.—ln the drive North of the reef, the quartz is showing a slight improvement iv vaj-ue, though still of a low grade. •In the drive south the reef shows broken quartz, but a well defined footwall. The ore is below payable valne. Point Russell.—ln fUe drive west on the course of Conway's Lead the quartz stripped looks very promising, carrying with, it zinc blende and a little bright mineral, but no gold was seen. Two men. have been driving north on the course of the break during the past week through a splendid sandstone country. The break is carrying a rubblv formation of quartz in which colours of gold have been seen.

•Bendigo.—The low level ropk is lighter In colour, tiad full of mineral with small quartz stringers. On the Silver King reef the men continue to break ore in- the stopes. Missouri Mines.—Work has been confined to carrying along the leading stope on the Ked Mercury reef. The reef is a strong body of ore, measuring about 4ft in width, and although it is travelling in an excellent class of andesite country, the prospects are not as encouraging as formerly. The ore will probably improve in value as the iftopc is advanced.

Karangahake.—ManuePs winze has been advanced 5 feet. When breaking down five pounds of picked stone was obtained The ground has improved a little, and then' are numerous mineral veins. The Tankani prospecting level is in 17 feet from the crosscut. The reef measures 20 inches in width, and there is a fair amount of sulphides in the ore.

Tararu Mines.—No. 4 level drive east of the erosscat on the line of Vulcan reef is In I*9 feeL The country is more congenial andesite. The present face of the drive is a regular mass of quartz, and mineral veins interlacing the ground of a splendid description, striking into the reef at all angles.

Phoenix and Talma Dreadnought, Limited —Tlie tunnel is still very rotten and will require close timbering. There is a considerable quantity of flint boulders, bine pug and country rock mixed together. The total length of this tunnel is 522 feet. Rising San.—ln the low level a further distance of 20ft. lias been driven by the contractors, malting a total of 031 feet. The country continues the same as last reported.

Tainia Monarch.—Tn No. 2 level, No. 3 reef shows a width of 2 feet, while- xlie ore broken, carries a good deal of nice-looking bineral. At each breaking down gold Is freely seen in the stone. The contractors bave extended the Smithy level ' ,-ive a further distance of 111 reet, an excellent class of country being penetrated. The reef formation shows a width or 3 feet. i
