THE MISSION TO SEAMEN.

The usual monthly meeting of the local Committee of the Missions to Seamen ('•Mying Angel Flag"), was held in the Diocesan Church office, Shortland-street. last evening, there being .present: Captain Sergeant (secretary), Captain Best;, Mr E- aiaria-Oark (treasurer), and the Mossionex, Mr Arthur P. Co-wie. The report was submitted, which shows a steady advance. Visits to steamers, 41; visits to sailing vessels, 33; total 74 visits to shipping; services held in Institute, six; offertories from seamen, £2 lls lljd; subscriptions from merchants and others, £10 15s 3d; visits-to Auckland Hospital, three; parcels of literature distributed, 71; letters of gratitude received, five; employment found for seamen, 16; seamen assisted in various ways, 50; visits to Police Courts, one; visits to Supreme Court, one; prohibition orders, one; letters received for seamen. IS; funerals of seamen one; pledges signed against strong drink (voluntarily), one; concerts provided for seamen, two; visits to Waterside Workers' shed, one; attendance at the Institute for the month, 800; attendance at the services (Sunday evenings), 220.
