Waahi, Huntly, which is in charge of; Elders Evans, Btowii and Hall, in the j visit of Mr. and Mrs. Bowles (president of the Mormon Church in the Dominion). They arrived on Saturday, accompanied i by two native converts, Mr. Tamihana Te Aweawe and his wife Waatookorau (chief of the Rangitane tribe, Manawatu), who leave New Zealand on Wednesday for Salt Lake City. Mr. Tamihana Te Aweawe, addressing the congrpgation. stated that the reason he and his wife were leaving New Zealand was their love of the Maori people, and not for any pecuniary benefit. He believed that the Maoris are of the House of Israel, and that the time is near at hand "when they are to be gathered back to Zion, as well as the rest of the House of Israel. He quoted several passages in support of liis contention. As an instance of the vtork done by the Mormon Church in New: Zealand, it was stated that they had over 5,000 professing native converts to the faith in the Dominion.
