Rowing conditions were as ■ nearly; perfect as possible, and some good : racing ■ : resulted. The first heat.was contested : by crews stroked by A. E. Cariatr, Massey,; and Cato, Massey winning a dose race by: half-a-length from Carlaw, Cato.close be- • hind. The second heat brought out four crews, Dtxon, Bae, Eigelow, and E. Mc- j Donald filling the stroke seats. This was areally excel .'eat race. Bigelow getting home a-quarter ol a length ahead of Bae, with Dison and MeDonaia, overlapping, a fewfeet astern. The third heat saw H. McDonald beat BlomSe'd by three-quarters of 1 a length, vrfth Sands and Mitchell in dose pursuit The final heat was eventually a. - nesed by 3. Bigelow's crew, consisting of; BlgeKrw, G. "Wright, Hooper, and Bartiejy who defeated R. McDonald by a lengfli,: Massey's crew, a canvas farther in. the'";'' rear, being third.
