The theft was a particularly impudent one. On the date mentioned, Lewin purchased a coat in town, and ordered-that it be sent' to his lodgings in Wynyard-street. The parcel was sent up, and left on a stand inside the door. Accused was prowling about the place, and seeing th* parcel delivered, ie went into the house and took it. He got away with it unobserved, and at once took it -to town ami sold the coat at a second-hand shop. He- was sent to prison for three-months. OFFENCES.. . ' .
