SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP.
WU&LCWS FRIENDS HOPEFUL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISECHTJEIDa, this day. Broken weather has himpexed Amsfc and WTielch in their trainmg operations, | but w belch ■was over tbn full course on [ Saturday and Arast on Sunday. The j Akaroa c /er is said to be in wonderful condition, though too -fiw to please some experts, and local people speak enthusiastically of his prospects. Axnet, on the other hand, seems to he going , lazily on the water, athough once or twice he has electrified the shore 'watchers. As a rule, he has contented himself ■with steady work, pulling a regular 21 or 22, : and occasionally 25. When Wbelch went over the course, he paddled a couple of ; miles, then qtrickened to S5, and finished at 30 over the last half-mile. The final deposit is to be paid on Monday, and the course will be definitely settled on Thursday of next week.
