(Before Messrs. W. Morgan and F. McGovern, J.P.'s.) THE DETTNKS. Four first offenders were convicted and discharged. John Stewart, found dnmk in Sy-monds-street, was fined 10/- or 48 hours. SubInspector Hendrey said the man struck his wife, and turned her and his children out in the street last night A human brute who struck a woman deserved no pity or consideration. The wife said her husband night after night failed to come home to his tea, and spent the evenings in the hotels until closing -time. Constable McLeod said the accused was a hardworking, respectable man, well epoken of by his employers, but hie failing was drink. The wife said she was supported by her husband. Under the circumstances, the Bench decided to bind the man over to keep the peace for twelve months in his own surety of £50, and a prohibition order was issued against him. AKOTHER UTTHAPPY WIFE. Robert Lamb was charged with having assaulted .his wife, Sarah Lamb, on Fol> ruaryS, 1008. The man pleaded "not guilty," and said the remembered nothing about the .matter.
