CRIMINAL ASSAULT.
GIRL SERIOUSLY INJURED. AST ARREST MADE. A little delicate girl of 13 years of age was .assaulted and cruelly outraged by some fiend in the guise of a man at Warkworth last week. Her screams were heard by a young man named Onkes, who, after running some considerable distance to h*T assistance, found himself confronted by the man armed with a knife which he threatened to use. Oake3 made to grapple him, but the man did not wait for him, and m.idc good his escape. The same day Constable Jolvneon arrested a man named William J. F. Moore, and charged him with the assault before a justice next morning. The girl was so seriously injured that she had to be sent to the Auckland Hospital, where she is now undergoing treatment. Moore will appear on remand in the Auckland Polieo Court to-morrow morning to answer a charge of rape. This case is the third of its kind which has been reported in the Rodney district in a relatively short time. ■:..
