COX'S CREEK.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Permit mc to make a few remarks in regard to Cox's Creek, the most famous place for stench in New Zealand, bar none. I am sorry our City Councillors who voted against the urgency of doing something to carry the sewage out to sea are not better acquainted with the place. I have lived near enough to pass an opinion, and can inform those gentlemen that many nights during the year the windows and doors must be closed, and the house fumigated with sulphur, or otherwise it would be impossible to sleep for the dreadful stench caused by Grey Lynn and city sewage. We boast of beautiful parks and other surroundings, but I have never yet met the man who had visited Cox's Creek (with tide out) who did not say it was absolutely the most filthy place he had ever visited. I notice the Councillors who voted against the matter are not living near enough to have sympathy for others who have tolerated this dreadful place for years. Mr. C. J. Parr battled well indeed against a strong opposition at last Thursday's meeting to bring the matter under their notice, and the residents of both city and Grey Lynn have a gentleman who will not rest with one defeat, and hope we will not have another summer to tolerate box's Creek as it is to-day. —I am, etc., F.
