1 a j A DELEGATE INTEVIEWED. (By -Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCITUTCCH, Friday. One of the New Zealand Rugby Union's delegates to the Australasian conference of Rugby. Unions, which met recently (Mr. G ■ H. Mason, of this ciiy), returned to-day ant_ gave a brief Interview on arrival regarding the decisions arrived at by the conference. Mr. Mason said that they would not be made public until the report of the delegates was submitted to the New Zealand dinghy Union and published by it. The conference was , satisfactory, and as a result of it matters . between the three unions —. New South • Wales, Queensland, and New Zealand—win -be on a butter footing than hitherto. The . New Zealand delegates found that both the ; New South Wales and Queensland delegates were very keen indeed oh retaining the araz- '. teur status of Rugby, footballers as fully as . possible in their respective 'States. Matters the alteration of the mles of the . game and regarding professionalism were very fully considered by the delegates, and I complete unanimity was arrived at. , Asked as to the state, of Rugby In Ans- [ rralia, Mr. Mason said that In both New . South Wales and Queensland the Rugby , Unions found the opposition of the professional element very strong, but he did not j think that that element was growing.
