The "weather was fine, and notwithstanding the strong counter attractions, there was a good attendance. Besnlte: — .MAIDEN TROT HANDICAP. Distance, one mile. - t. Singleton's tor g St. Patrick, 3yxs, 5s (Singleton) _ 3 Also started: Kitty, scratch; M&kauri Lass, Is; Pa-thunder, 2s; Prince Milne, 3s; Warrage, 3s; Cora Bell, 3s; Berlin Abba, 3s; Benaila Bay,' 3s; Special Diamond, 3s; Diamond Bell, ss; and Timidity, ss. St. Michael was in front when they reached the stand, followed by Diamond Bell Cora Bell, and St. Patrick. St iMichael drew out going along the back, and was never afterwards troubled, winning with ridiculous ease -by ten lengths from Black Mire, which was a length in front of St fa trick. T>iamond Bell -was fourth. Time, 2.52 1-3. St. Michael was favourite. SPECIAL TROTTING HANDICAP. Distance, one mile and a-hnlf. C. Clements' b m Hnanui, aged 18s (Orange) 1 T. Richards' b g Royal Albert, aged, 21a (owner) 2 E. Archer's b m Miss Ngapara, 5 years, 9s (Hamilton) 3 Also started: Robex scr., Bosebnd 7s, Olive lis, Rita W. 13s, Castaway 16s, Day Dawn 17s, Maknri Lass 21s, and Harry Mace 255. Harry Mace, from the limit, led for about three furlongs, when Huanui took charge and led past the stand, followed by Harry Mace and- Royal Albert. The latter was almost on terms with Huanui as they trotted along the back, and turning for home had a slight advantage. In the run to the post Hnanui came again, and Orange outgeneralling Richards on Royal Albert, ■won an interesting race by a neck. Miss Ngapara was third, and Robex fourth. Time 3.58.
